On Wednesday morning, we woke up to the news that Donald Trump had become the 45th President of the United States. However, thousands of millennials have taken to the streets to protest against their new President.
Hilary Clinton, the Democrat’s candidate, actually had more votes than Republican Donald Trump. Although due to America’s political system, Trump still won the election.
The rallies started off in college campuses but have now spread throughout cities, the protesters have held loud, abusive rallies against the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Trump claimed victory by successfully winning two key states: Florida and Pennsylvania. These two states gave Trump extra electoral votes, 29 and 20. The new President needed 270 Electoral votes altogether to get to the white house. In the end Trump had 279 Electoral votes compared to Clinton’s 228.
The protests haven’t turned violent yet, and we hope it continues this way.
